Born and raised in the musically historic city of Manchester, England, Marc and Allister Blackham, also known as the EC Twins, began their career in the House Music scene in Edinburgh, Scotland at age 16. They quickly evolved from “flyer boys” to creating and running the city’s most successful night club: Eye Candy. The Twins excelled, drawing in crowds night after night continually packing Eye Candy beyond capacity. The initials of the infamous nightclub stuck as the brothers are still known around the world as simply… EC Twins.

The Twins began their musical career by performing in small clubs and funneling all of their limited finances into their music and performances. Their hard work paid off, turning their local fan base into a huge army of dedicated worldwide followers. Thanks to their “British Invasion", The Twins have been credited as 2 of the most influential figures responsible for the boom of Electronic Music in the USA.

Mackenzie Johnson, better known as MAKJ, uncovered a passion for mixing and DJ’ing at only 15 years of age. While living overseas in China as a professional racecar driver, the teenager grabbed hold of his first set of Technics 1200 Turntables. As he experimented with the new equipment, Johnson also took advantage of his foreign exposure and critically studied the technical nuances and styles set before him in the most popular overseas clubs. No longer would DJ’ing bejust a newfound passion for MAKJ; it soon turned into a thriving career path. As a 17-year-old Johnson made his way back to the United States and he returned with a unique outlook and greater ambition than ever before. The insight Johnson acquired abroad gave him incredible local momentum; Johnson found himself being repeatedly invited to DJ countless local University and Community College events and concerts. It was at this age that MAKJ also received priceless DJ’ing tutelage from one of the best in history, the late great DJ AM himself, who skilled MAKJ in the art of scratching over the course of several one-on-one lessons. Honing and perfecting his skills over the past several years, MAKJ has DJ’ed at some of the premier venues in the country including Playhouse, Avalon, Dim Mak Studios and Supperclub in Hollywood, Marquee, TAO, and Tryst in Las Vegas, The Grand in San Francisco, Lavo and 1OAK in New York, LIV in Miami, plus recent shows in Montreal, San Diego, Columbus, Costa Mesa, Santa Cruz, and Cabo San Lucas. He also performed on last summer’s IDentity Festival in Boston, Washington, and New York, and has played direct support to greats such as Avicii, Armin Van Burren, Steve Aoki, Morgan Page and Wolfgang Gartner. Johnson’s creativity and diversity as an artist have now carried over into the production field and his works have deservingly awarded him much critical acclaim and positive reception. His edits, bootlegs, and remixes have received immense support from renowned artists such as Hardwell, Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Fedde Le Grand, R3hab, Chuckie, Avicii, Laidback Luke, Adrian Lux, Swanky Tunes, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and many others. With the support of these greats in his pocket, MAKJ is now venturing off into the realm of original production; he has many fresh new tracks slotted for release over the course of the next year, including several that Robbie Rivera has hand picked for his Juicy Music label. Additionally MAKJ is currently featured on the popular “Electric Sound Stage” station on iHeartRadio. His 60 minute mix shows are broadcasted weekly, with listeners returning week after week for his fresh new tunes and exclusive features. At only 22 years of age, Mackenzie Johnson has achieved an almost unfathomable amount of success. His dedication to his craft and ambition to surpass any and all competitors will further propel MAKJ higher than he could ever have imagined.

Luna Nightclub And Lounge

2011 Excellence Awards Venues (Club Or Lounge) Nominee

Luna Nightclub and Lounge was commissioned to the Southern California lighting and architectural design firm, NKDDI, in 2009 to provide a centralized nightlife destination serving the three large counties of Los Angeles, Inland Empire , and Orange County. The space is a 22,000sq-ft., two-story structure that is designed to serve as an upscale restaurant, lounge, and nightclub. The space is designed with a gradual progression of the interiors and lighting, from a subtle, sophisticated lounge-like atmosphere to a more aggressive high-energy venue, as patrons venture from entrance (restaurant lobby) to the nightclub section of the space. The more aggressive, high-energy portion of Luna is closed off during the day by a 1,000lb, 16’-tall, solid oak movable wall that also serves as a partition to be used for corporate events venue without interference with the restaurant operations during the day. The venue is divided into four key spaces: Lounge/Dining room, Lizard Lounge, Main Room, and Patio, while all spaces are tied together with a clean-lined eclectic modern design with heavy textured finishes for shadow play

With the Martin Professional toolbox, NKDDI has utilized the Easypix LED for cove lighting throughout the venue’s lobbies, back-bars, under-bars, and the louvered lightbox overlooking the main floor of the venue as they graze the three-dimensional finishes. The main core of the entertainment lighting is Martin’s SmartMAC moving heads for profile and wash and Martin’s EFX 500s and 700s with custom diffuser lenses to act as multicolored wash fixtures for the POD focal points on the patio and animated multi-colored wash fixtures in the lounge and nightclub. All fixtures are controlled by two Martin Maxxyz PC controllers.

With lighting in mind, NKDDI developed the venue’s architectural and interiors concept with textures and design elements to enhance, complement, and accentuate the lighting of the venue, such as solid oak strip column wrapping, custom three dimensional tiles covering the two DJ booths and under bars, custom CNC’ed wood paneling washed with EasyPix fixtures, and embossed weaved metal wall-covering. At any point in the venue, there are curious visual focal points that are strategically located throughout the space and visually framed portions of the venue to promote movement within the space. The space was designed for patrons to interact with the space and enhance their visual and touch senses, for example, onion grass planters and moss orbs nestled in grape-wood trees.
